Kinring Australian
Shepherds was named for a character in a Louis L’Amour novel. I LOVE to read
and have collected Louis L’Amour books for years. Louis wrote a series of
stories about a family called the Sacketts that immigrated to North America.
The first child born to the Sackett family on North American soil was called Kin
Ring Sackett. I thought this was an appropriate kennel name for a breed of dog
whose ancestors also immigrated to North America and were then shaped and
developed into the breed we know today.
David and I enjoy many
activities with our dogs. We are very active in Flyball, Agility, Obedience and
Conformation. Whenever we get an opportunity we work our dogs on stock. In the
past I was very involved with our local Search and Rescue club as well as trying
out the tracking field.
During the day I teach
high school Biology to support my dog habit. In the evenings I teach obedience
classes and the occasional set of Flyball classes.
We are CKC, ASCA, and
MASC members. I organize many of the club activities and events for the
Manitoba Australian Shepherd Club and David volunteers to help out at events, be
it selling raffle tickets, ‘manning’ the bake sale table, or wrangling sheep!
